TRAMAR PETTAWAY TO PLAY ROLE OF SCARECROW IN THE HAMPTONS FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS PRODUCTION OF:
THE WIZ
Tramar Pettaway was born and raised on Long Island. He started his
music career at a very very early age when he was casted in a professional opera where he worked with Opera of The Hamptons. He appeared in all of the school musicals being the principle ensemble member. In April of 2008 he sang back up for the late Godfather Of Gospel Music Elder Timothy Wright in Bridgehampton, NY In 2009 he appeared in the Southampton Village 4th of July parade as well as entered the Suffolk Community College's annual Talent show where he took home second place.
Tramar has not only sang for parades and talent shows he has a huge love for community events such as Relay For Life, Light The Night Walk.
This singer has not only performed for local events he has traveled out of state for the annual NAACP conventions since 2005. While in Milwaukee he had the pleasure of meeting the American Idol Fantasia Barrino. That's not the only Idol contestant he has met, he had the pleasure of singing for singer and author as well as American Idol Finalist Ms. Melinda Doolittle who gave him great tips on how to get his name out there.
When asked what does he sing he says "everything- i don't believe I am locked into one genre I have been blessed to sing everything".
Tramar has shared the stage with many many local and national artist including Apollo winner Dylan Jenet Collins, Apollo winner Tiffany Obi, Actress and Singer Dhonna Harris Goodale, singer/ rapper Lem Payne. Most recently Tramar has the pleasure and was graced with the opportunity to perform with Metro Opera Singer Earl Huie and jazz vocalist Laura Mann. Being asked to sing with those two was defiantly an "honor that shouldn't be taken lightly" . The highlight of 2010 was when Tramar performed with the "Hot 8 Brass Band" the Happy Birthday song to NAACP President Mr. Lucius Ware.
He appeared on the cover of "Southampton Press" in July 2009, which opened the door to a lot of places. He always says to everyone "I am blessed to have such a supportive family when it comes to me singing".
Not only does is he a singer he is an actor as well. He made his debut apperance to the professional theater stage at an early age when he played the lead ensemble munchkin in "The Wizard Of Oz"
Tramar has sang for the god daughter of the late "James Brown" Mrs. Kathy Jordan Sharpton as well as Dhonna Harris Goodale and Paul Antonelli along wih many others. He has had the honor of performing with the "Sweetheart Of Gospel" Bettina Pennon who is also his musical mentor.
